DA nominates candidate for uMhlathuze deputy mayor position

The DA in KZN says it will nominate Botha, who is the party's caucus leader in uMhlathuze

The DA in KZN has announced that it will nominate the party’s Caucus Leader in uMhlathuze, Councillor Christo Botha to serve as deputy mayor, at a full council sitting to be held next week.

DA KZN Chairperson Dean Macpherson said on Tuesday that the decision follows ‘an offer from the IFP to nominate a candidate for the vacant position in the uMhlathuze Municipality’.

The post was left vacant by Nkululeko Ngubane of the EFF, who resigned earlier this year.

The DA currently chairs the Electricity and Infrastructure Portfolio Committees in uMhlathuze.
