WATCH: Truck, car on fire after N2 fatal accident

It has been confirmed that one person sustained fatal injuries in an accident involving a light motor vehicle and a truck.

The collision occurred late this morning (Thursday) on the N2 northbound carriageway just south of Mtunzini Toll Plaza.

While the vehicles are off the road, traffic police are letting motorists through via a stop/go as part of the freeway is obstructed.

Medi Response paramedics are on scene. Reports from the scene indicate that the occupant of the light motor vehicle was entrapped and could not be extricated owing to the intensity of the flames, and succumbed to the blaze.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was moved to a safe distance before the truck also became engulfed in flames.

He is being treated on scene and will be transferred to hospital for further medical care.
