Leopards spotted on N2 not from local game reserve, says Ezemvelo

Leopard sighting on the N2 between Mkuze and Hluhluwe

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has denied that three leopards sighted along the N2 between Mkuze and Hluhluwe escaped from nearby game reserves.

A warning to motorists and truck drivers was issued early this morning (Wednesday), with the wild animals said to have been seen near the Biyela sign.

Ezemvelo, however, rejected claims that they had escaped from the conservation entity’s reserves.

“Like animals such as snakes, jackals and hyenas, leopards are free-living in many parts of KZN.

“They are found inside and outside the protected areas,” said Ezemvelo.

They have, however, warned members of the public to be cautious and not engage the animals.
