Science bursaries for Nkandla matriculants

Ntuli made the pledge on Thursday at a reunion celebration of the class of 1981

For decades, Nkandla Technical High School has maintained top educational standards, playing a pivotal role during South Africa’s struggle history.

To celebrate the achievements and encourage further success, King Cetshwayo District Mayor Thami Ntuli – himself an alumnus of the school – promised to award 10 pupils with tuition bursaries for science courses.

Ntuli made the pledge on Thursday at a reunion celebration of the class of 1981.

In attendance was Nkandla Mayor Mbhekiseni Biyela, Amakhosi and the Class of 1981 and 1982 alumni.

Ntuli commended the teachers and management for maintaining a standard of excellence at the school.

“So many schools have been closed, have deteriorated and vanished, but Nkandla High continues to attract learners outside the boundaries of the area,” he said.

Ntuli also acknowledged the important role played by Inkosi BP Biyela of eMahlayizeni in the school’s success.

“I understand that he played a crucial role in transforming the old school into what is today.

“I believe the vision was to bring different technical skills to equip our learners for the challenging conditions we live in,” he said.
