Marsha ‘The Machine’ Muller brings new meaning to ‘cat walk’

ENDURANCE athlete and cat fanatic Marsha ‘The Machine’ Muller has set herself another charity run to raise funds for Project Feral Cat.

On Saturday, 7 October, Marsha and two fellow runners, Vusi Nkosi and Sarie Pretorius, will set off from AC Petco Mtunzini at 6am and run to Empangeni Athletics Club, on the back road, covering a distance of 38km.

The twist? They will all be wearing cat outfits to draw more attention and further the cause.

Sponsor them R10 per kilometre to help raise funds for PFC’s trapping, neutering, and releasing (TNR) programme, or donate a bag of cat food when you snap a pic of the runners and tag them on social media.

About Project Feral Cat
This NPO raises funds to trap, neuter, and release feral cats in the Richards Bay and Empangeni areas, as well as further afield.

Started by Heilke Ackerman in 2017, PFC has since sterilised more than 4 000 cats, drastically reducing the numbers of feral cats and helping control the colonies.

Heilke and her group of dedicated volunteers all have full-time jobs, and undertake their PFC duties after hours.
This includes feeding the numerous established, sterilised feral cat colonies in the area.

Eliminating feral cat colonies through poisoning, removal or any other method does not eradicate the problem, it simply opens the territory for other feral cats to move in.

Trapping, neutering and releasing, and then feeding feral cat colonies is the only way to stabilise and control the populations.
