Son arrested for spearing father to death

A suspect appeared at Hlabisa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of his father.

Funukwazi Melusi Ngcamu (34) stands accused of stabbing his father, Bongani Tholinhlanhla Ngcamu to death with a spear.

According to police reports, the stabbing followed a brief argument between the two.

Police spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize said when the incident was reported to the police, they attended the scene where the father was found dead with a stab wound to the neck.

“The suspect was arrested and was expected to make a brief appearance in court on Tuesday. The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage but police investigations are ongoing,” said Mkhize.

The incident occurred in the Ophaphasi area in Hlabisa on Sunday evening.

The accused is set to appear at the same court for a bail application on Tuesday, 10 October.
