Head-on collision closes N2 freeway

Two people sustained serious injuries and were entrapped in the bakkie after colliding head-on with a fuel tanker.

A third person also sustained serious injuries.

The collision occurred on the N2 southbound near Mandeni shortly after 6am today (Friday).

The bakkie was fully loaded with household appliances and was towing a trailer.

KZN EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the call, as did Rural Metro whose officers extricated the entrapped patients.

All three were transported to hospital for further medical care.

The accident brought the N2 to a closure as emergency personnel worked to treat the patients and clear the scene.
