N2 collision claims three lives

Vehicle collides with truck that was reportedly going to make a U-turn to join port-bound queue

Three people were killed in a head-on collision involving a truck on the N2 near eNseleni on Tuesday night.

It is alleged the vehicle they were travelling in, which was headed towards Empangeni from eNseleni, lost control and collided with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The truck was reportedly going to make a U-turn to join other queueing trucks headed to the Port of Richards Bay.

“The accident occurred at 10.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).

“The truck pushed the vehicle back 60m and was blocked by guard rails in the opposite direction of the truck, blocking the southbound lane,” RTI Empangeni said in a statement.

The road was reopened at 8.40am on Wednesday morning after recovery of the vehicles.
