Foodstuffs supplied for Jozini matric study boot camps

Jozini Mayor Mfananaye Mathe handed over groceries to local high schools recently

With the matric examinations set to get under way, pupils require support in the form of sustenance and study guidance.

To meet this need, Jozini Mayor Mfananaye Mathe handed over groceries to local high schools recently, with the municipality setting aside R3-million for boot camps.

Addressing questions around the amount actually spent, Mathe reportedly stated that the groceries purchased from a local retailer were below half a million rand, with the remainder funding developmental programmes.

“We do not want to make empty promises but we want to act,” said Mathe, adding that the municipality prioritised education.

He wished the matriculants well ahead of their final examinations and thanked the principals and municipal staff for ensuring the programme was a success.
