Urgent call for Zululanders to donate blood

Donate blood and you could save up to three lives

Blood stocks across the country are critically low, and the blood bank in Richards Bay is calling on all Zululanders to donate this life-saving resource.

To boost stocks in the run-up to the festive season, the SA National Blood Service (SANBS) in Richards Bay has extended opening hours until Friday, 3 November.

All donors can access the centre at Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre between 9am and 6pm from today (Wednesday) until Friday, 27 October.

The centre will advise of ongoing extended hours until 3 November.

Regular donors are eligible to receive a token of appreciation.

The SANBS needs a five-day supply for each blood group to ensure sustained availability for patients in need.

B+ and O+ are presently running low, with a four-day supply of the former, and a 3.7-day supply of the latter.

Group O donors are highly valued as their blood can be given to recipients of any of the four blood groups.

So don’t delay, donate today, and you could save up to three lives.
