WATCH: Ongoing search for man missing in Amatikulu river

A 23-year-old man went missing in the Amatikulu river late Wednesday afternoon

Search and rescue teams from far and wide, including Empangeni SAPS divers and IPSS Search and Rescue, are on the scene of a suspected drowning for the second consecutive day.

This after a 23-year-old man went missing in the Amatikulu river late Wednesday afternoon.

According to IPSS spokesperson Samantha Meyrick, the man was last seen attempting to cross the river.

Rescue divers and swimmers have combed more than 1km of the river downstream, as search members made use of drones and inflatables.

As at late morning on Friday, the divers had to temporarily suspend the search owing to the number of crocodiles in the vicinity.
