Three years after a corpse was found burnt beyond recognition in a car in Port Durnford, justice has been served.
On Friday, Ngwelezana Regional Court convicted and sentenced Nzuzo Gumede (26) to life imprisonment for the murder of Zamani Mtshali (32) and subsequent malicious damage to property.
Mtshali’s car was found on 4 October 2020 in the bushes.
A case was registered at eSikhaleni SAPS and the docket handed to the King Cetshwayo District (KCD) Detectives Task Team led by Detective Sergeant Sibusiso Ntshangase.
The detective identified the car through a tracking company, and employed all available resources to trace and arrest Gumede.
KCD acting police commissioner Brigadier Mngomezulu welcomed the sentence and praised the police involved.
