Richards Bay road closure ahead of KZN Salga Games

Ten districts, comprising more than 30 municipalities in the province, will be participating

Bullion Boulevard in Richards Bay CBD will be closed between 12 noon and 2pm this (Thursday) afternoon owing to a scheduled parade to kick-off the KZN Salga Games.

The parade route will begin at Standard Bank parking opposite Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and proceed along Bullion Boulevard towards the uMhlathuze Central Sport Complex in Veldenvlei.

King Cetshwayo District is hosting the provincial games until Sunday, 10 December.

Ten districts, comprising more than 30 municipalities in the province, will be participating in 16 sporting codes, including basketball, chess, cricket, dance, golf, indigenous games, karate, netball, swimming and tennis.

The event is expected to boost the local tourism sector as well as the economy as more than 3 000 people are set to be hosted for the games.

A number of games will be hosted at the Veldenvlei sports complex, including the opening and closing ceremonies.

Law enforcement, including the city’s traffic officials, has been deployed to maintain order, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators.
