5 Tips for a stress-free festive season

Here are 5 tips to remove unwanted stress during this time of year

The festive season is upon us, but don’t let the excitement become overruled by year-end fatigue or financial stress.

Many people feel the pressure to spend big on Christmas gifts for loved ones, as well as new clothes and delicious food.

But don’t let this short-term pleasure lead to long-term pain.

A survey recently conducted by an American psychological organisation suggests that 38% of people felt their stress levels increased during the festive season.

Fear not, here are 5 tips to remove unwanted stress during this time of year:

1. Simple gift giving. Exchanging gifts is a wonderful experience, but set strict budgets so you do not stress about overspending.

2. Plan ahead. The key to a stress-free December is to plan well and stick to them.

3. Set realistic expectations. Do not partake in promises you cannot keep, and you do not always have to attend expensive Christmas events or parties.

4. Practice self-care. Do not strain yourself by partaking in stressful activities this December, rather engage in relaxing activities.

5. Embrace imperfection. Not everything has to be perfect; those slightly burnt cookies or roast are not worth stressing over.
