Suspicious lump found on mamba

The snake was one of a few recent catches being prepared for release into the wild

A recently captured green mamba provided a bit of a surprise when being checked over before being sent for its blood to be ‘milked’ for antivenom.

Local snake handler Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel caught the 1.5m reptile at a lodge in Meerensee and it was one of a few recent catches being prepared for release into the wild.

“Donald Schultz from Snake Pharm in Hluhluwe dropped in to collect the snakes and we noticed a lump on the body of the green mamba.”
