Show us the dirt!
Help bring an end to illegal dumping and littering through this call-to-action campaign
The culture of illegal dumping and littering is a widespread problem throughout the region.
Litter is thrown out of car windows, chucked onto the street, in shopping mall car parks, and left to blow on the breeze and clog stormwater systems and drains.
This in turn poses a risk of flooding as has been the case during recent heavy rainfall.
For this reason, the Zululand Observer is spearheading a cleaner city campaign, a community initiative to upend the status quo and promote a culture of cleanliness.
The ‘Tell us where the dirt is’ campaign aims to identify litter-strewn areas and encourage residents, businesses and schools to take responsibility for their litter.
Don’t simply tell us where the dirt is, work collectively as residents of the City of uMhlathuze to tackle the problem and bring about change.
Be part of positive change
Email us photos of litter and/or illegal dump sites in your area, and be sure to include the name of the affected area.
But don’t end there, send us photos of the same areas after they have been cleaned.
Email all photos and information to wellington@zob.co.za
