Litter campaign gains traction across City of uMhlathuze

Zululanders taking pride in their area by organising litter clean ups

The change is visible – many Zululanders are joining the ZO’s ‘Tell us where the dirt is’ call-to-action campaign.

With the culture of illegal dumping and littering a widespread problem throughout the region, environmentally-conscious Zululanders are becoming part of the solution one ward at a time.

Since the campaign was launched last month, many wards began forming action groups to focus on tackling litter in their areas.

Just last week, a huge drive was carried out at Alkantstrand and around Commodore Close in Richards Bay, while other groups focus on KwaDlangezwa hot spots.

Residents continue to identify litter-strewn areas, and this week Empangeni residents identified tonnes of rubbish around Louis Botha Ave.

The main reason for this drive is not just for residents to identify litter-strewn areas, but to encourage businesses and schools to take responsibility for the litter in their areas.

Be part of positive change

Email us photos of litter and/or illegal dumping sites in your area, and be sure to include the name of the affected area/road/suburb.

But don’t stop there! Send us photos of the same areas after they have been cleaned up.
