Help Empangeni NPO fill empty tummies

Help local NPO put food on the table for children from disadvantaged backgrounds

The ever-rising cost of living is a crisis affecting the most vulnerable – rural households with growing schoolchildren to feed.

Noticing how this is affecting the youngsters who make use of their coding and robotics after-school programme, the I Learn to Live – Ngifundela Ukuphila NPO based outside Empangeni has launched a feeding scheme and appeals to supporters to help them feed hungry children.

By 2.30pm, the children’s stomachs are grumbling and learning is not a top priority.

To alleviate this hunger, the NPO has worked out that it will cost R5 000 per month to give 200 children peanut butter and jam sandwiches as a light snack before lessons start.

This equates to just R25 per child, and the NPO’s founder, Ashling McCarthy hopes to get enough supporters on board to make it work.

To contribute, EFT your donation to the following bank account, using the reference ‘sandwiches’.
