Protest causes road closure near Empangeni

Residents of oDondolo Reserve in Matshana have blocked the Ngwelezane Bypass this (Tuesday) morning protesting over electricity supply issues in the area.

The residents are burning debris to prevent motorists’ access as they protest the fact that they’ve been without power for two months owing to a broken transformer.

They said they are fed up with empty promises and demand speedy resolution from the relevant authorities.

Police are on the scene to monitor the situation.
