Zululanders are urged to take precautions for themselves, their children and their pets tomorrow (Sunday) as mid-winter temperatures are set to soar.
Richards Bay residents can expect an unseasonably hot 36 degrees Celsius, Empangeni, Mtunzini and Pongola 35, Mtubatuba 31, Hluhluwe 34 and eShowe 32.
Following this winter warm front is a cold front on Monday, bringing with it temperatures ranging from 13 in eShowe, to 19 and cloudy in Hluhluwe, 18 and cloudy in Pongola, a wet 19 in Mtubatuba, and 18 and raining in Empangeni, Mtunzini and Richards Bay.

The weather service has also reiterated its high fire index warning amid dry conditions, and urges residents to guard against behaviour that could lead to runaway fires.
This includes not discarding cigarette butts or bottles on the ground; keeping a close eye on fires to ensure they don’t get out of control; and reporting veld fires to the relevant authorities.
Ensure you keep well hydrated, and your animals have sufficient water and shade too.
