Investigation into fatal ambulance accident

An investigation is underway following the death of a passenger and driver of an ambulance which was transporting three children

The death of a passenger and the driver of an ambulance, which was transporting three children who survived, will be investigated internally.

This after an accident last Saturday evening on the N2 in the eMbomeni area near Mtubatuba, in the vicinity of the Mfolozi River bridge.

This is according to a non-executive director of the emergency services company, Sizwe Dlamini, who said he cannot speculate on the cause of the accident as the investigation is ongoing.

“We will interview colleagues during the investigation and I will make my way to the accident scene,” said Dlamini.

Police spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said there were two casualties, and that three children were rushed to KwaMsane Clinic with serious injuries.

A case of culpable homicide has been registered.
