Mtubatuba ‘cane knife attacker’ matter postponed
Postponement in matter relating to Mtubatuba man accused of hacking off girlfriend's hand
The ‘cane knife attacker’ matter was again postponed for final investigations at the Mtubatuba District Court on Friday.
The accused, Sqiniseko Ndlovu, who allegedly mercilessly attacked two sisters, one of whom his girlfriend, with a cane knife is due back in court on Friday, 25 October.
Ndlovu’s alleged attack included chopping off the hand of his girlfriend and leaving the other hand so severely injured that the victim may end up unable to use it.
According to the victim’s family, she is recovering in hospital but has endured great difficulty.
Her sister was badly injured on her head, arm and thighs, while a small child sustained minor injuries during the attack at the women’s family home in Nkunduse, Mtubatuba.
It is alleged that Ndlovu had accused his girlfriend’s sister of interfering in his love life, and assaulted her with the cane knife before turning on his girlfriend.
According to reports, he fled the scene, dropping a travel bag at the gate.
At a local sports field, a bloodstained cane knife was reportedly picked up by a passer-by, who identified it as belonging to the suspect and took it to his home.
The women and their family were left shaken and are living in fear following the ordeal.
