With eight distinctions, Sinethezekile Combined School matriculant Mayenziwa Nzuza has decided to study medicine at UCT because she has always wanted to help people.

“Since I was a child, I wanted to do medicine because I like helping people. I once volunteered at Bethesda Hospital and my passion grew.

“I wanted to explore and learn more about the human body,” said Mayenziwa.

Her parents and teachers were her biggest supporters – although she is a self-driven individual who strives for excellence.

The added class hours, home tutoring, past papers, reliable social media platforms and study groups also helped achieve her goals.

Her advice to the 2025 matric class is that they should be self-motivated, know what they want to achieve, and focus on their goals.

“Sometimes you have to let go of distractions and work hard,” advised Mayenziwa.
