Thundershower warning for south-western parts of KZN

Thunderstorm could escalate in severity in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal

THE South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 thundershowers warning for south-western parts of KZN effective today (Monday).

People residing in these parts should brace themselves for heavy downpours, hail, excessive lightning and strong winds.

According to the weather desk, the warning is valid from 2pm to 8pm, and potential impacts include:
• Localised damage to infrastructure, settlements, vehicles and livestock

• Localised injuries and danger to life owing to lightning

• Localised, short-term disruption to municipal and other essential services

• Localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges

Motorists are urged to take extreme caution and, where possible, are advised to avoid bridges in low-lying areas.
