King Cetshwayo police continue clampdown on illegal weapons

Three suspects were on Sunday arrested at Dokodweni beach for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
This as police are working hard to clamp down on the illegal possession of firearms around the region.
According to King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase, Gingindlovu SAPS members reacted to a tip-off about a suspect who was seen in possession of a firearm at the beach.

“Detectives and crime prevention members rushed to the beach. On their way, they came across a silver-grey Polo fitting the description of a vehicle that was used by a suspect. They stopped the vehicle with three occupants and searched it.
“They found a firearm with ammunition hidden inside the car. The recovered firearm had no serial numbers.
“The three suspects were arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition,” he said.
“The trio is expected to appear before the Gingindlovu Periodical Court soon. The recovered firearm will be sent for a ballistic test to determine if it has been used in other criminal offences around the country,” he said.
