Best of Zululand: Voting 101 and a competition just for you!

The 2024/25 Best of Zululand Readers' Choice Awards nominations are out! Find out how to vote for your favourite companies and how you could stand a chance to win a R2000 cash prize from the Zululand Observer.

We are excited to announce our nominees of this year’s Best of Zululand Readers’ Choice Awards.

Make sure you buy a copy of today’s (31 January) Zululand Observer, in which we showcase our nominees.

This is the 16th edition of Best of Zululand and our biggest one yet!

There are 8 voting sections in the BOZ awards:

  • Living in Zululand
  • DIY / Home / Business Improvement
  • Glam It Up
  • Eat, Drink and Be Merry
  • Services
  • Shopping
  • Kids
  • Automotive

Within these sections, there are 178 categories – 42 more than last year – such as Best Bed & Breakfast, Best Attorney, and Best Breakdown Service.

Here is how you can vote for your winners:

Print voting forms

  • Voting forms can be found in every ZO Monday and Weekender edition until 12 February
  • You can fill this form in by hand, ticking off your chosen companies as you go
  • Remember, you can only vote for one business/institution per category
  • You can then either scan your form and email it to supplements@zob.co.za (only one scanned form per person per ZO edition) OR drop it off in the voting box at the Zululand Observer office at 3 Baines Road, Fairview, Empangeni
  • Only these original voting forms will be accepted
Ensure your votes do not get disqualified – you can only vote for one company per category

Online voting

  • Visit citizen.co.za/zululand-observer/best-of-zululand/ to vote online
  • You can only cast one vote per category per day
  • You can only vote once a day per IP address
  • If you or someone in your company or household that share the same IP address have already voted in any of the categories, you will not be able to vote again for 24 hours
  • To ensure you get your own votes in, you can also vote once every 24 hours from your cellphone using your mobile data

Voting closes on Wednesday, 12 February at midnight
