Recovery in generation capacity leads to load-shedding suspension

Recovery of generation capacity, sufficient emergency reserves contribute to load-shedding suspension

ESKOM took the decision to suspend load-shedding at midnight last night, citing a recovery of 2015MW of generation capacity, among others, as the reason.

An expected decline in electricity demand and sufficient emergency reserves were also contributing factors.

This after the power utility implemented load-shedding without notice from 4pm yesterday (Thursday).

“Planned maintenance continues to ensure system readiness for increased winter demand, to meet regulatory requirements and to ensure environmental compliance.
“Our team remains committed to restoring approximately 6000MW to service by next Tuesday,” said Eskom.
The power utility said it would release a power alert later today, or update as necessary.
