Horrific N2 crash claims 8 lives near Empangeni

Eight people have tragically lost their lives and scores were left injured in a horrific crash on the N2 near Empangeni this (Sunday) morning.

The tragic collision involving two vehicles occurred on the N2 northbound lane above the John Ross highway.

While the cause of the accident is not yet known, emergency services were on scene to stabilise the injured.

Four people sustained critical injuries while 10 were treated for serious injuries. The injured patients have been transported to Ngwelezana Hospital for further treatment.

The section of the N2 in the vicinity of the accident has been temporarily closed while the scene is being cleared. Motorists are advised to delay travel or use an alternative route.
