Skills development to empower Zululand youth
uThungulu Community Foundation boosts efforts to empower youth and women
Efforts to empower youth and women continue to bear fruit.
This after grants that the uThungulu Community Foundation (UFC) handed over to community organisations to empower youth through sustainable livelihoods and skills development.
UCF marked a significant milestone with the launch of its Community Empowerment project at the Uzalwa Ufumbethe Youth Centre, an initiative aimed to foster social cohesion and uplift the community, with a particular focus on youth and young women and girls.
African Solidarity Campaign (AfriSoC) and Dr Gesi Project were beneficiaries of such grants from UCF.
In addition, the event highlighted the formal handover of the Cellular Phone Repair Initiative, a project by AfriSoC that materialised after a year-and-a-half of conceptualisation, thanks to generous funding.
AfriSoC director Mmindje Kabakilwa Steven said this project will empower youth, especially women, with cellphone repair skills, bridging the digital divide and creating economic opportunities.
“The project is a beacon of hope for our community,” said Kabakilwa.
“By empowering our youth with these skills, we’re creating a lasting impact on our community.”
