In a heartfelt gesture of community support, the Kuyakhanya Welfare Centre received food parcels valued at more than R9 000 from local sand mining company, Tronox.

Located in rural KwaMbonambi under uMfolozi Municipality, the centre provides food assistance, healthcare support, and social services to vulnerable community members.

The donation included staple foods such as rice, flour, samp and other non-perishables, which were distributed to low-income households and pensioners.

Welcoming the kind donation, the centre’s chairperson, Ntombiyenkosi Mbuyazi said, “Your generosity makes a difference to the lives of many people who are struggling to put food on the table. The donations alleviate hunger and ensure basic needs are met within our community.”

This forms part of Tronox’s broader Corporate Social Investment strategy which focuses on making a meaningful impact in local communities.
