Store closed following robbery attempt at shopping mall in Richards Bay

Police and emergency services are on scene at the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre in Richards Bay following an attempted robbery and shootout this afternoon.

One suspect was reportedly shot after attempting to rob an electronics outlet on the lower level. The robbery attempt was thwarted by the swift response from mall security.

The suspect was injured and emergency services are on scene.

The affected store has been closed and the situation is now calm. There were no other injuries and it is safe for shoppers to continue shopping.
