Man sentenced to life for killing girlfriend
Mtubatuba Regional Court hands down life term to 29-year-old convicted of killing his girlfriend in Hluhluwe
Nkosinathi Mtshali (29) was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Mtubatuba Regional Court last week, for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Sanele Buthelezi (26) in April last year.
The court heard that Mtshali went to Buthelezi’s home in the kwaNibela area of Hluhluwe, when a fight ensued.
Mtshali, armed with a knife, stabbed Buthelezi multiple times in the chest and neck. He then left her bleeding and went to the police, where he handed himself over. He also handed over the blood-stained knife.
The victim impact statement from Buthelezi’s brother outlined how devastated the family was, saying no apology could ever make up for what Mtshali had done.
