Ntuli described Mthethwa as a seasoned public servant and a distinguished leader who devoted his life to serving the people of South Africa.

“His passing marks the loss of a patriot who contributed immensely to the democratic project and the building of the South African nation across multiple spheres of government,” said Ntuli.

“A disciplined, humble and visionary leader whose commitment to public service and love for his people were unwavering. His passing is not only a loss to KwaZulu-Natal, but to the entire nation. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mthethwa family, friends, and colleagues in the diplomatic corps.”

Mthethwa, the South African ambassador to France, died suddenly last week while on duty in Paris.
