uMfolozi Mayor Xolani Bhengu pays tribute to ward 17 councillor Sibusiso Sibiya who was laid to rest at the weekend
Final respects were paid to former Ward 17 councillor Sibusiso Sibiya, who was laid to rest on Sunday.
Sibiya, who was also a dedicated teacher at Bhubhubhu Primary School, was remembered for his commitment both to education and public service.
His funeral drew a large crowd, including representatives from the Department of Basic Education, church congregations, pupils and community members, who came to honour his life and contributions.
The ceremony was also attended by uMfolozi Mayor Xolani Bhengu, fellow councillors, municipal staff and King Cetshwayo District officials.
Paying tribute, Bhengu described Sibiya as a ‘humble yet outspoken leader’ who always prioritised the needs of his community.
“He was a respectful councillor who never shied away from addressing issues affecting his community. His passing leaves a great void in the municipality and in Ward 17,” said Bhengu.
