2 injured in 3-car pile-up on John Ross highway

Three vehicles collided at Alton intersection on the John Ross highway in Richards Bay on Thursday morning

The tail end of rush hour came to a halt this morning (Thursday) after three cars were involved in a collision at the Alton intersection on the John Ross highway.

Two occupants – the driver and passenger – of one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further care; one privately and the other by Faith Med EMS paramedics.

According to reports from the scene, the accident was a concertina effect after one vehicle rear-ended another, which in turn rear-ended the third.

Two vehicles were off the road, while the third obstructed the intersection, causing delays as emergency workers tended to the patients and cleared the scene.
