Several local pupils attended the recent Rotary Club of Port Shepstone’s youth leadership course – the 60th of its kind held in the town.
Pupils from St Catherine’s, Old Mill High, Richem Secondary and Empangeni High schools had a feedback session with members of Empangeni’s Rotary Club on Friday at Babbling Brook BnB.

The attendees gave a short speech on the course’s key moments, how it changed their lives, and how they plan to use their experience as young leaders in South Africa.
Rotary Club of Empangeni president Andrew Killick said pupils were initially nervous but concluded the course with confidence.
“The participants from across KZN realised that this course will change their lives in an amazing way,” he said.
“They were exposed to team events and guest speakers, and were home-hosted by Rotarians in Port Shepstone for an evening.
“They concluded that they are valued, with the ability to associate and talk to people of all ages without fear or intimidation.
“They returned with new friends and a completely different perspective of what being a leader means and the responsibilities associated with leadership,” said Killick.
The Rotary Club of Empangeni extended thanks to St Catherine’s School for the use of their bus to transport the pupils to and from Port Shepstone.
