Sundumbili alleged drug dealer nabbed

After acting on a tip-off from the community, police in Sundumbili on Tuesday arrested an alleged drug dealer.

Upon receiving the information, the police immediately located the suspect (45), who had also been reported as being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Police communications officer Priya Nunkumar said the suspect was searched after he was located.

“He was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with the serial number filled off, as well as 15 live rounds of ammunition, and one ‘half moon’ piece of rock cocaine.

“He was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as with possession of drugs.

“He made his first court appearance at Nyoni Magistrate’s Court and was remanded in custody for further investigation.

“He is expected to appear on Wednesday for a formal bail application,” she said.
