Cervical Cancer Prevention Week urges women to prioritise screening, vaccination

Health department encourages screening, HPV vaccination and education during Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.

CERVICAL Cancer Prevention Week was observed from 19-25 January, highlighting this highly preventable and treatable disease.

The Department of Health on Friday urged South African women to protect themselves via screening, vaccination and education.

This is the department’s message:
• Get regular cervical cancer screening for early detection and treatment
• Ensure HPV vaccination for eligible girls aged 9-14 years
• Practice safe sex and reduce risk factors for developing cancer
• Spread awareness and educate your community
