Alleged drug dealer nabbed in Sundumbili

Tip-off leads police to 43-year-old suspect in Sundumbili

Police in Sundumbili on Wednesday arrested a 43-year-old suspect for possession of an illegal firearm and drugs.

The arrest followed a tip-off about the alleged ‘kingpin’, who is known to be supplying drugs in the Mandeni and Sundumbili areas.

Police reacted swiftly to the information, and when they arrived at the suspect’s home, they found a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off, six live rounds of 9mm ammunition, 380 whoonga capsules and 100 pieces of rock cocaine.

SAPS communication officer Priya Nunkumar said the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

“He is expected to appear at the Nyoni Magistrate’s Court soon. The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it has been used in any criminal activities,” she said.
