Richards Bay boere sport day to boost brave boy’s battle

Richards Bay family appeals for community support to raise funds for 3-year-old Danie du Plessis medical procedures

Mounting medical expenses have forced a Richards Bay family to seek community assistance for their young son, who suffers from multiple health conditions.

Danie du Plessis (3) requires costly medical procedures beyond the family’s financial means.

In an effort not to rely solely on free handouts, the family has appealed to the community to join them at a boere sport fundraising day, held alongside a rugby festival on Saturday, 28 March at Richards Bay Rugby Club.

Danie’s grandmother, Yolandi Bouwer, said all proceeds, including stall fees from the fundraising event, will go towards supporting her grandson’s ongoing medical and therapy needs.

“We are also planning several one-day raffles during the event, and appeal to businesses to sponsor prizes. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping us raise funds for Danie’s medical needs,” she said.

Further appealing for assistance on behalf of Danie’s mother, family friend Aneke Venter said the family is willing to provide all relevant medical documentation and evidence to support their plea for assistance.

“They have been trying to raise funds through various initiatives, from selling baked goods to raffling tickets for prizes. However, despite these efforts, the family remains in desperate need of support to reach their goal of covering Danie’s medical costs,” said Venter.

Organisations, businesses and individuals willing to sponsor the boere sport fundraising day can contact Yolandi Bouwer on 082 0761434.
