Corporate gives back to local community

Corporate foundation works with the City of uMhlathuze to build homes for families affected by recent floods

Enseleni residents who lost their homes in the recent floods benefited from the Old Mutual Foundation’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme.

Working with the City of uMhlathuze, the aim is to build 80 homes, with Old Mutual already handing over 70 completed structures to grateful residents – 10 of which are in uMhlathuze.

On Friday, an official handover was held in eNseleni, Ward 5 – with residents in wards 11, 12, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29, 31 and 33 also receiving homes.

Red Cross donated groceries to the affected families.

City mayor Xolani Ngwezi thanked Old Mutual Foundation, Red Cross, and the Office of the Premier of KZN.

“Building a home is a human right issue enshrined in the country’s constitution, and it is the government’s responsibility,” said Ngwezi.
