Serious incident at Richards Bay industry

Reported shooting incident at Mondi plant in Richards Bay

Police and emergency services were on the scene early this (Wednesday) morning at the Mondi plant in Alton after reports of a shooting and fire.

While the exact nature of the incident is unclear at this time, it is understood that two employees are deceased and a third was transported to hospital.

It is understood that access to the plant is presently prohibited.

A statement on the incident is awaited from Mondi.
