Taps to run for first time in decades
In KwaNcwane, the project is expected to create 17 temporary jobs for residents
FOR years, rural communities in King Cetshwayo District Municipality have relied on water tankers. In three months, this should change.
On Monday, four rudimentary water supply projects, costing R6.4-million were launched in KwaZece and Gcotsheni under uMlalazi Municipality; and KwaNcwane under Mthonjaneni Municipality at a cost of R5.4-million.

On Tuesday, District Mayor Sikhumbuzo Dlamini also launched a R9.8-million Water Reticulation Project in KwaMbonambi.
Upon completion, these projects will provide access to clean, running water.
Scope of projects
Plans for KwaZece, Gcotsheni and KwaNcwane include:
– Developing a borehole
– Constructing a pump station with a water filtration system
– Installing of a 50kl SBS water storage tank
– Fencing the pump stations
– Installation of a backup power generator
– Installation of water reticulation distribution pipes with six communal standpipes
The KwaZece and Gcotsheni projects are expected to benefit more than 48 households, with 33 residents employed through the Expanded Public Works Programme.
In KwaNcwane, the project is expected to create 17 temporary jobs for residents.
