uMhlathuze deputy mayor hospitalised

Call for prayers as uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha remains in serious condition

City of uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha has been hospitalised and remains in a critical condition.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday and posted to his official Facebook page, Botha is currently receiving critical medical care as his condition remains serious at this time.

“Throughout his time in public service, he has always stood firm for this community — always putting the needs of others before his own, even during personal health challenges.

“Many of you know him not only as a leader, but as someone who has always shown up — even in moments when most would have stepped back,” the statement reads.

“He has faced health battles before, and each time he has fought with resilience and returned to continue serving this community with dedication.

“Let us come together in unity and compassion during this time.

“We will share updates when we are able to do so. We appreciate your understanding and respect for his family’s privacy.”

City of uMhlathuze Mayor Xolani Ngwezi has wished the deputy mayor a speedy recovery, urging the community to pray for him and his family during this time.

“We are in constant communication with Cllr Botha’s political home, the DA, through its KZN leader Dean Macpherson and his family regarding his condition. We are very hopeful that Cllr Botha will recover soon,” Ngwezi said in a statement.

City residents are urged to take a minute at 12 noon this (Wednesday) afternoon to pray for the deputy mayor’s speedy recovery.
