Weather service issues warning for damaging winds along KZN coast

KwaZulu-Natal coastline affected by strong winds on Sunday, South African Weather Services issues level 2 yellow warning

THE South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds along the KZN coast.

The warning is in place for the duration of today (Sunday), until midnight tonight, with strong winds expected to affect the entire length of the coastline.

“A cold front approaching from the west of KZN will result in strong surface winds over the western and central parts of the province, with gusts expected to reach a maximum of 100km/h in places,” said the weather desk.

  • Damage to temporary structures
  • Power and communication interruptions
  • Problems for high-sided vehicles due to cross winds on exposed high-level roads or bridges
