R34m uMfolozi projects target safety and youth development
uMfolozi Municipality invests R34m in high mast lights, roads and sport facilities to improve safety and youth development.
ADDRESSING security issues, uMfolozi Mayor Xolani Bhengu handed over high mast lights to KwaSobhuza and Mphathiswano communities last week.
Bhengu, accompanied by his executive members and councillors, also opened the iKhumalo gravel access road before heading to Ward 11 where he officially handed over a refurbished and fenced Mawombe sports field.

He says the projects, costing in excess of R34m, will encourage youth sport and reduce crime, with the lights powered by solar energy.
This follows the handover of mast lights at Thandaza and Khanyiselisizwe School, as well as the opening of the Nkumanda and Ndondwane access roads.
“We installed these lights near schools to ensure the safety of learners, especially those doing extra classes, so when they leave school late, they are safe,” he said.
