I AM a fireman and avid outdoorsman living in Richards Bay.
My problem is my little Birdswood pond is overtaken by the Salvinia molesta plant and I am struggling to get assistance to help me get rid of it.
A friend and I tried pulling the weed out with nets supplied by Frans Mthembu of eZemvelo KZN Wildlife, using my personal vehicle – to no avail.
I have contacted the following asking for assistance – Unisa, EKZN Conservation Manager Roy Jones, Rhodes University and the Department of Water Affairs.
Please let’s get rid of this plant before it spreads to Lake Mzingazi.
