Popular local businessman, rugby player remembered

Condolences continue to pour in following the passing of Lungelo Meyiwa (29) of Ngwelezana

Tributes are pouring in after the passing of a well-liked local businessman, rugby player and upstanding member of the Ngwelezana community.

Lungelo Meyiwa (29), who was well-established in the building and construction industry, passed away recently in his sleep after complaining of a stomach ache before going to bed.

His long-time rugby coach, Charles Mndaweni said they are in shock, and described Meyiwa as a disciplined, loving and passionate young man who was dedicated and hard working, full of respect and love for other players.

“Indeed dynamite comes in small packages. There is a lot we can learn from Lungelo’s life, but we are all for God and he is now with God. He has played his part. Condolences to his family,” said Mndaweni.

Meyiwa was laid to rest at Empangeni Regional Cemetery last Sunday.

Speaking on behalf of the family about their beloved brother, older sister Ntoyethu Meyiwa said the respect and love Lungelo had for his family was incredible. She said he never had an argument with their mother or siblings.

“It will never be the same without him at home; he was a respectful son and a good person,” said Meyiwa.
