Felixton golf club championship showdown

Felixton Country Club pulls off spectacular championship

Felixton Country Club hosted their Annual Club Championship on Saturday.

The 36-hole event was played in beautiful conditions at the club’s mashie course, drawing 33 golfers.

In a thrilling finish at the Felixton Golf Club Championship, Shaun Leslie emerged as the Men’s Champion, A-division winner and Overall Champion beating Kim Swift (Ladies Champion as well as B-division winner) by a mere 1 shot, carding a final score of 126 shots over 36 holes.

Kim put together four impressive rounds, shooting just 1 over par in a round which secured the B-division win and posed a huge threat to the A division players.

Shaun, who is no stranger to the winning podium, also played 1 over par in his third quarter, but then had to play a focused final nine to secure a win against what would have been the club’s first female club champion.

“There was great excitement and anticipation as the final scores were logged,” said Felixton Country Club Golf captain Teresa Wickham.

“The championship was played with great sportsmanship and camaraderie was definitely the winner of the day.”

Teresa gave a big thank you to the ground crew, committee and everyone who helped make the day a success.

Other notable winners included:
· C Division Champion: Nicholas Stewart (Gross 147)
· Net Division Champion: Nicholas Stewart (Net 101)
· Closest to the pin: Kevan Pillay (am) and John Cawood (pm)
