Soup kitchen to fill empty stomachs
“It pained me seeing young people hungry and not knowing where their next meal would come from."
Kwa-Thema – David Makopo and his family have opened doors to disadvantaged households in their area by providing a meal in Extension Four over the weekend.
The initiative is targeted at young people who depend on school nutritional meals during the week.
David said he identified that some of these beneficiaries go through weekends without having anything to eat.

“It pained me seeing young people hungry and not knowing where their next meal would come from.
“Initially, we used to donate food parcels to some of the affected families, but we thought it would be better if we also add a soup kitchen to provide a warm meal over the weekends,” he said.
David added they are fully funding the project and are hoping to attract support from the community.
“If more people get on board we will be able to reach more disadvantaged households,” he said.
